What to read and watch

Day 1Zagreb

We embark on our adventure in Croatia by exploring its charming capital and its sumptuous cuisine. Meet your group and your Tourbadour leader, and head out for an included wine tasting and dinner. There’s no better way to start the tour 🙂

Day 2Zagreb and Medvednica Nature Park

We start our day with a visit to Zagreb’s food belly – largest fresh food market in the capital. After a traditional Croatian breakfast and a tour around the Upper (old) town, we head out to nearby Medvednica mountain and admire the natural splendour engulfing Zagreb from the north.

Day 3Ogulin and Klek mountain

Welcome to Ogulin, a charming little town beneath the Klek mountain, full of exciting things to see and do. Ogulin is slowly getting a reputation of Croatian Hogwarts – and we learn why by visiting a museum and a birtplace of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, foremost Croatian writer of fairy tales, on which countless generations of Croatian children grew up to. We continue our adventure with a hike to the peak of Klek – in Croatian folklore known as the infamous gathering place of witches and wizards – where on a clear day you can see as far as the Alps

Day 4Ogulin - Rastoke - Plitvice Lakes National Park

Today we have an easy drive to Plitvice National park but we make an obligatory stop in Rastoke, a watermill settlement where blue-green waters of the Slunjčica river pour over travertine rocks into the Korana river, thus creating a multitude of waterfalls, rapids, small lakes and cascades. Once we reach Plitvice lakes we take a stroll around lower and upper lakes and soon realize why is this not only the oldest, largest and most visited Croatian national park, but also a UNESCO heritage site.

Day 5Plitvice Lakes NP on a horse-drawn carriage

We wake up in our rural homestay and after a hearty breakfast we are ready to once again explore the beauty of Plitvice National park – but this time we have something special for you in mind: admire the gorgeous landscape by sitting in an open horse-drawn carriage and feel free to take as many photos as you want 🙂 In the afternoon there is also an optional possibility to go horseback riding for intermidiate/advance riders.

Day 6Plitvice Lakes NP with bicycles

Use the morning to cycle small roads and hidden paths around this breathtaking national park. Relax in the afternoon or go for another ride in our carriage – we love this experience so much we can never get enough of it 🙂

Day 7Zrmanja river rafting/canoeing and cooking class

Depending on water levels today is the day for rafting or canoeing on the beautiful Zrmanja river. We’ll paddle little more than 14 kilometers (9 miles) through pristine waters, soaking up the karst scenery of valleys and canyons and waterfalls. Spend the rest of the day swimming in the river or relaxing in our homestay but feel free to join our cooking class in the evening where you’ll try your best to make Prisnac, a traditional dish of Dalmatian Zagora.

Day 8Velebit mountain trekking

Another gorgeous day in the nature filled with scenic exploration of hidden paths and valleys of Velebit Nature Park.

Day 9Sea kayaking in Velebit channel

We arrive in Paklenica bay and start our kayaking adventure in a place where mountain meets the sea. Our destination, a pictoresque little village of Vinjerac, is rigth across the Velebit channel, but we’ll take our time on many many swimm stops on the way 🙂 We return in the afternoon to Paklenica National Park, our new home for the next two nights.

Day 10Paklenica National Park hike

Welcome to Paklenica, the absolute southern jewel of Velebit mountain and a craddle of Croatian alpinism. We start our day with some easy to medium hikes, finishing with a delicious lunch in the heart of National Park. Use your afternoon to relax in clear blue waters of Adriatic sea or – if you have some more energy – try out rock climbing in one of Europe’s premier rock climbing destinations.

Day 11Zadar

Welcome to Zadar, a true pearl of Dalmatia which traces its origins to 9th century BC, making it the oldest continuously inhabited Croatian city. We’ll take a tour and learn more about its captivating history, admiring its cobble-stone streets, medieval churches and UNESCO protected city walls, gates and bastions. Join your Tourbadour leader for a sunset toast next to the relaxing sounds of Zadar sea organs – another unique treasure of this mesmerizing city.

Day 12Kornati archipelago National Park

We like to finish our tours in style, and this time we do it with a day trip around the densest and one of the most beautiful archipelago in the Mediterranean – Kornati National Park. We’ll spend the day sailing and swimming around 89 unforgettable islands, islets and reefs before returning to Zadar for our farewell dinner.

Day 13Zadar - end of tour

Time to say those sad goodbyes as the tour ends after breakfast. If you still have time on your hands look for our Tourbadour leader for recommendations of what to do and where to go next. Hope to see you on another adventure!
